Welcome to Calgary Public Library's first summer reading program just for adults!

Starting today (June 18) you can register at any library branch and pick up Activity #1.  There will be 5 Activity Sheets in total, and they will be released every two weeks througout the summer, with the last one released on August 13.

Activity #1

A)  Be Novel:

Can Lit? Can do!

Canadian fiction has a unique voice reflecting our history, geography and cultural diversity. Canadian authors are recognized internationally for their award winning fiction and valued at home for their works in all genres that  enrich, entertain and enlighten us. Here's a sample.

Three day road : a novel by Boyden, Joseph, 1966- tells of a pair of young Cree hunters who become famous snipers in World War I.  It is a story of war, friendship, culture, loss, and rebirth.

The story begins on the shortest night of the year in a small radio station in Yellowknife in 1975.  In a place known for isolation and community, the eccentric residents - all from somewhere else, come together with their unique stories and pasts to create new loves, rivalries and entanglements in Late nights on air : [a novel] by Hay, Elizabeth, 1951- .

B)  Get Real:

Get a Life!

Are you curious about other people's lives?  Get a glimpse into the personal experiences and stories of others by reading a biography, autobiography, memoir or diary.

Are you familiar with how to find biographies at the library?  Search for the person's name under Subject on our on-line catalogue or check the shelves in your favorite subject area for books with the yellow Biography label on the spine.
