Authors grow up too

The next time you’re in the adult fiction section of your local library, you might do a double-take and wonder if you’re in the right spot!  Authors that your teens enjoy are venturing into the adult publishing scene, a term in the literary world known as “crossing over.”  Crossover authors can travel both ways:  think of Mary Higgins Clark, ‘the Queen of Suspense,’ and how she surprised fans with her first children’s book, Ghost ship : a Cape Cod story by Clark, Mary Higgins..  Sue Grafton will be offering a teenage Kinsey Millhone series, while James Patterson’s Maximum Ride series went in the other direction, graduating to the adult market by the fourth book.

Crossover authors are the perfect answer to light summer reading!  A fan of Judy Blume as a child?  Try Summer sisters : a novel by Blume, Judy.
