Bread and Words

Bread nourishes the body, and words/libraries nourish the mind and soul. A very talented Calgarian, Aviv Fried, has combined his passion for artisan, organic bread-making with a project to bring words/libraries to children in Malawi.

Every week, Aviv bakes 45 loaves of bread and delivers the bread by bicycle to individuals or businesses in downtown Calgary. A loaf costs $6, and proceeds go to CODE.

Aviv's bread is some of the best I've ever tasted -- flavourful and toothsome. This coming Monday Aviv is baking Normandy apple bread. If you would like to order a loaf, you can e-mail Aviv at: aviv.fried@gmail.com.
