The Calgary Public Library Foundation Literary Awards

"A book is a version of the world.  If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return."

        - Salman Rushdie

The Calgary Public Library Foundation Literary Awards celebrate local author achievements and literary excellence. With the aim of promoting the development of Alberta’s literary community, the Awards reflect the Calgary Public Library Foundation’s commitment to championing literacy and public library service in Calgary.

The Awards benefit members of Alberta's literary and artistic community, including authors, illustrators, artists, and publishers. A strong literary and artistic community is essential to balance Alberta's economic strengths in creating a dynamic, thriving community.

A strong and healthy public library system is an essential component of our city’s quality of life and a benefit to all Calgarians.
